Jade Doughty

PhD Student at the John Innes Centre

As part of Caroline Dean’s work to investigate how the cold temperature of winter influences the flowering of plants, Jade works in a lab conducting experiments using different molecular biology techniques. After a degree at university specialising in Genetics, Jade decided to go into research. She is currently a PhD student, so is learning to become a Research Scientist. Jade believes that in Science, you never stop learning!

I always loved Biology and Maths at school and even considered medicine as a career - but after doing work experience in a hospital I realised this wasn’t for me! I want to investigate things no one else has ever investigated, to get the answers to the unanswered questions. I find trying to understand immensely complicated biologically systems very exciting.”
